Data Scientist
Customer Intelligence

Remote / Berlin / Hamburg · Reports to: VP Customer Success & Strategy · Start: immediate

The role

LEAP is transforming from a channel-based agency model into a Growth Intelligence Operating System. This means we take responsibility not just for individual measures, but for measurable business value for our clients. This ambition stands or falls on the ability to prove impact rather than just claim it. You are the person who establishes this evidence. You combine data science methodology with deep business acumen: you master the client's business model, consolidate heterogeneous data sources, build models that make correlations visible, and translate the results into a language that drives decision-making at the executive level. You will work closely with the Customer Success team. The CSM manages the client relationship and uses your analyses to argue, prioritize, and persuade at the decision-maker level. At the same time, you will further develop LEAP's analytical architecture: new methods, better models, and smarter infrastructure on a modern AI and MCP stack.

What you will do

Master business models

  • Understand the client's business: which levers drive revenue and margin? Where is the client losing value, and how is that reflected in the data?
  • Develop KPI frameworks that hold up at the executive level: revenue, margin, CAC, customer lifetime value, and market share
  • Translate technical topics (SEO, CRO, AI visibility) into business impact: what contributes to which goal, and to what extent?

Consolidate and model data

  • Integrate heterogeneous data sources: GA4, shop systems, CRM, ads, ERP, and third-party benchmarks
  • Evaluate and combine first-party, anonymous web, and third-party data, and assess their validity
  • Develop statistical models and scoring approaches: attribution, cohort analysis, funnel diagnostics, and predictive signals
  • Assess client data governance: tracking quality, consent, attribution gaps, and missing baselines

Further develop architecture and AI stack

  • Designing and evolving LEAP’s analytical infrastructure on a modern MCP stack.
  • Setting up AI-powered analysis modules: LLM-based data analysis, automated insights, and predictive modeling.
  • Building scalable analysis frameworks that work across individual clients.
  • Evaluating new methods and tools and integrating them into daily workflows.

Translating Results

  • Explaining complex relationships in a way that a CSM can use in board-level discussions.
  • Delivering QBR substance: trends, benchmarks, and competitive context, condensed so that a decision can be made in five minutes.
  • Providing actionable recommendations with clear prioritization: What are the three levers with the greatest value contribution?
  • Documenting and improving the data measurement model: every client project refines the framework for the next.

Your Profile

Education

  • Relevant degree: Data Science, Statistics, Business Informatics, Mathematics, Physics, Economics with a quantitative focus, or a comparable field.
  • A PhD or further specialization is a plus, but not required if your practical experience is strong.

Core

  • Data science methodology: statistical modeling, predictive analytics, scoring, cluster analysis, and time-series analysis. You build models that uncover relationships rather than just describing them.
  • Expert-level web analytics: GA4, attribution, e-commerce KPIs, and cross-channel analysis.
  • Integrating heterogeneous data sources: first-party, anonymous web data, and third-party. You know what is reliable and what is not.
  • Python for data analysis and modeling. Proficient in SQL. Professional-level expertise in at least one BI tool: Tableau, Power BI, or Looker.
  • Architectural mindset: You can design an analytics stack, not just work within one. Experience with MCP architectures, API integrations, or comparable modern data infrastructures.
  • You can explain complex concepts, both in writing and verbally, in a way that allows non-technical stakeholders to make informed decisions.
  • Your German language skills are at a C1 level, both written and spoken

Strongly preferred

  • Professional experience in a role where you had to deeply understand client business models: a strategic agency, consulting, or an in-house data role in e-commerce
  • Experience with LLM-powered data analysis, prompt engineering for analytical applications, or AI agents in a data context
  • Ability to interpret SEO and CRO metrics: not as a specialist, but as someone who understands how they contribute to revenue
  • Forecasting and scenario modeling: looking ahead, not just analyzing historical data
  • Public speaking or publications on data topics: conferences, meetups, or industry articles

Why LEAP

  • Greenfield. You are the first person in this role. No legacy, no predecessor. You define how LEAP measures customer impact and, in doing so, how LEAP proves its own value.
  • Direct impact. When a CSM secures a renewal or wins an expansion, it’s based on your insights. This isn't a support role; it’s at the heart of LEAP’s value proposition.
  • Architectural ownership. You aren't just building analyses; you are building LEAP’s analytical infrastructure. MCP stack, AI modules, scalable frameworks: this is your playground.
  • Strategic proximity. You will work directly with the VP of Customer Success and the executive team. No long reporting lines.
  • A solid foundation with a clear mission. 80+ employees, an established e-commerce business, strong new customer acquisition, and a precisely defined gap for you to fill.

The Opportunity

You will start as a core analytical function within Customer Success. As we grow, the role will evolve in line with the volume and complexity of our client base. How exactly it develops is up to you.
